Getting Ready for your India Vacation

The very first thing you will need to do is get together all that paperwork so you can receive a visa to enter the country of India. After you have your visa in hand, you will be ready to plan a vacation of a lifetime.

India has a diverse countryside and with this comes different climates as well. According to the area of India you wish to visit, you should learn a bit more about the weather in that area. The northern area of India, Rajasthan has wonderful sunny beaches. The best time to enjoy the fun and sun of this area of India is from September to April. However, if you wish to visit Kerala or other areas south, be prepared for rain from May until November.

Many vacationers love to visit Ladakh, Shimla, or Rishikesh during the summer months offering beautiful landscape as well as gorgeous valleys. For anyone that loves the outdoors and nature these are must see areas of India.

India has all kinds of amazing things to see such as forts, palaces, museums, temples, and of course, the rich culture that brings families here every year just to enjoy the aroma of the spices that float through the air.

Children also love the countryside of India as well as the family activities you can find throughout India such as a canoe ride, watching fishermen pull in their nets, jeep safaris, camel rides, elephant rides, and of course wild animal parks that introduce you to the animal life of India.

As you pack, remember what the weather will be like in the area you wish to visit. What kind of activities will you be exploring? If you plan to go on a safari, it would be advisable to bring along insect spray, a hat, and even a raincoat if you will be traveling during the rainy season. India can be very hot at certain times of the year and cool during other times, and yes, it does snow in some areas of India, so you need to be prepared for the weather.

If you plan on visiting the Valley of Flowers, then you should remember to bring along a pair of comfortable shoes. The trek is close to 11 miles and you will need to walk the entire way, as there are no cars or other traffic that can get you up close and personal to this amazing valley filled with fauna and flora.

Things you do not want to forget include your camera, comfortable clothing, any medications you may need along with the prescription, travel as light as possible, but remember to bring things you will need. India is a safe destination for travelers to explore and experience all there is to see in this beautiful country. Children as well as adults will remember their vacation to India for many years to come.

Bangalore, India Vacations

Bangalore is a modern city that draws visitors all over the world to this unique playground full of historical sights, parks, and gardens and many other attractions to keep the family busy while embracing this remarkable city.

For nature lovers Bangalore has one of the most impressive botanical gardens around, Lalbagh Gardens. In 1760, Haider Ali designed this amazing garden while his son Tipu Sultan planted trees and plants from all over the world to create this beautiful botanical garden. In the beginning, the Lalbagh was home to several red roses, but has grown into a vast collection of sub-tropical, tropical, and medicinal plants from around the world. The glass house is the major attraction which is made to resemble the London Crystal Palace with the rose garden coming in a close second where there are over 150 varieties of roses.

If you love old palaces, then a visit to Tipu’s Summer Palace has to be on your itinerary. Haidar Ali began the construction of this stunning palace; however, it was not completed until 1789 by Tipu Sultan. The unique 2-story palace is made entirely of wood with the interior being painted in bright colors and carvings that will have you examining the beauty for quite awhile.

The government Museum in Bangalore is one of the oldest in India which opened in 1886. The museum is home to 18 galleries which houses finds from the Indus valley, Chandarvalli excavations, jewelry, textiles, miniature paintings, and coins.

If you do not mind traveling just a tad outside of Bangalore you can visit the Bannerghatta National Park. The Bannerghatta National Park was opened in 1974 and covers an area of 874 sq km. The scenery is breathtaking dotted with rolling hills, rivers, and magnificent gorges. Some of the habitants you may catch a glimpse of include leopards, tigers, four horned antelope, sloth bear, elephant, mouse deer, flying squirrel, mugger, monitor lizard, jungle fowl, bush quail, spoonbill, teal, coot, and woodpeckers.

If you love water sports then Hesaraghatta Lake will be your favorite spot with over 1,000 acres providing sailing as the most popular activity.

Bangalore has many wonderful attractions and things to do that the entire family are sure to love. Bangalore is home to many accommodations from bed & breakfast to exclusive hotels and more. Chennai – South India Vacations

A vacation in Chennai, India will allow you to feel the ambience of a modern Indian city with all the pleasures that attract visitors such as amusement parks and cultural centers while allowing you to embrace a rich history full of palaces and forts while allowing you to be surrounded by the beauty of the Bay of Bengal and the friendly atmosphere that keeps visitors returning.

At one time many many years ago, Chennai was nothing more than a fishing village, today is a thriving metropolis area that is full of all kinds of things to see and do.

Chennai is a playground with many attractions from the Marina Beach which is listed as the second longest beach in the world and the famous Guindy National Park which is a protected area of Tami Nadu. The park extends inside the governors estate and is one of the most beautiful national parks to view. It is home to amazing forests, scrublands, lakes, and streams as well as being home for the many animals that are being protected. Some of the mammals you will encounter include black buck, antelope, jackal, chital, spotted deer, pangolin, large Indian civet, jungle cats, river otters, fox, and hyenas.
Birds also love the national park and if you are lucky enough you may just catch a glimpse of one of these beautiful birds which includes quail, parrots, partridges, pheasants, fly catchers, honey buzzard and many more.

Just a short distance from the Guindy National Park is the Guindy Snake Park which is home to pythons, vipers, the King Cobra, and other reptiles. A children’s park is also nearby where the kids can enjoy seeing such animals as the cockatiel, bonnet monkey, cormorant, porcupine, and more.

History can be found at such attractions as the Fort St. George which was built in 1640AD. This was the first fortress that displayed British power in India. St. Mary’s Church built in 1678 to 1680 was the first English church in Chennai.

Other historical attractions include the Kalakshetra which was built in 1936 and founded by Rukmini Devi Arundale which is home to classical dance, weaving, and music. Little Mount is a cave in which it is believed that St. Thomas lived here when he first arrived in India about 58AD. The entrance to the cave is found in the Portuguese Church built in 1551.

George Town as well as the beach may be the most popular holiday destinations in Chennai. In George Town you will be able to enjoy Popham’s Broadway, Roman Catholic Cathedral, St Mary of the Angels, Parry’s Corner, High Court, Central Tower, Esplanade Lighthouse, Pachaiyappa’s Hall, Chepauk Palace, and the Art Gallery at Panheon Road.
